Clay Earring Template Generator

Create perfectly mirrored clay earring cutter pairs with automated post-hole markers. Align your jewelry elements down to the millimeter and export watertight STL files.

Design flawless earring sets in three steps

No more mismatched left/right drops or crooked jump ring holes. CutClay does the math for you.

1

Toggle Earring Mode

Open any shape. In the sidebar, enable “Earring Mode” to toggle the post-hole placement options and “Mirrored Pair” settings.

2

Position Post Holes

Set the post-hole depth and distance from the top edge. Holes are automatically centered and generated at a standard 1.2mm width.

3

Export the Pair

Toggle “Mirrored Pair”. Click Export to download both the left and right cutters side-by-side, perfectly mirrored.

The beauty of symmetrical earring design

For asymmetrical jewelry designs like organic curves, abstract face silhouettes, or sweeping teardrops, you need a left and a right earring. Manually mirroring models in slicer software can lead to sizing and hole alignment mistakes, resulting in mismatched pairs that hang crookedly.

CutClay’s **Earring Mode** and **Mirrored Pair** export generate a perfectly matched pair of cutters in a single step. The jump ring post-holes are mirrored symmetrically down to the millimeter, so your earrings hang straight and balanced every time.

Both Earring Mode and Mirrored Pair exports are available on the free tier, giving you 10 free exports (lifetime total) to try it out.

Earring Cutter Print Settings

Recommended slicing profiles for polymer clay earring cutters.

Nozzle Size

A 0.4mm nozzle is standard, but a 0.2mm nozzle is recommended for intricate, tiny studs to print extremely sharp edges.

Layer Height

Use 0.12mm to 0.15mm. Thinner layers reduce dragging when pulling the cutter out of soft polymer clay.

Post Hole Markers

Our post hole needles are reinforced. Set your print walls to at least 3 perimeter passes to ensure the needles are solid and strong.

Filament

Rigid PLA or PLA+ is ideal. It keeps the fine cutting walls stiff so they do not flex during hand pressure.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a post-hole marker?

A small needle inside the cutter outline that embosses a 1.2mm deep mark in the clay where you need to drill or punch the jump ring hole after baking.

How does Mirrored Pair export work?

It generates a single STL file containing two cutters placed side-by-side: the original design and its mirrored counterpart, separated by a standard 8mm gap.

What size should jump ring holes be?

Our standard post hole markers are 1.2mm wide, which fits standard 20-gauge or 18-gauge jump rings perfectly.

Do I need to buy shapes?

No. Our full shape library (geometrics, arches, botanicals, etc.) is completely free to design and experiment with.
