Design clay stamps in three steps

Control exactly how deep your stamps impress into the clay. Perfect for jewelry tags, soap markers, and cookie branding.

1

Select Imprint Mode

Load your custom SVG or select a shape from our library. Switch the tool mode to “Imprint Cutter” in the sidebar controls.

2

Set Imprint Depth

Adjust the “Imprint Depth” slider. Standard clay imprints are typically 1.5mm to 3.0mm deep, leaving a crisp, readable impression.

3

Export & Print

Download your watertight STL. Print on an FDM printer at high detail (0.12mm layer height) to make the text or details pop.

Add clean textures and logos to your clay work

Stamping is the best way to brand your handmade creations. Adding a signature logo stamp to the back of clay earrings, soap bars, or pottery tags adds instant professional value.

With CutClay, you can design full-face stamps or combined imprint-cutters (cutters that outline and stamp details at the same time). Adjust the backing plate thickness, add central support bars, and set exact dimensions so it matches your workflow.

Stamping parameters can be adjusted for free in the 3D preview. Free accounts include 10 exports total to test your prints.

Best settings for clay stamp printing

Achieving high-detail impressions in polymer clay.

Layer Height

Use 0.12mm or 0.10mm. Thinner layers reduce stair-stepping on the stamp’s face, ensuring the clay impression is smooth.

Imprint Depth

Set to 2.0mm. Any shallower might not show up well on soft clay; any deeper requires too much force and can distort the clay outline.

Polishing

Lightly sand the face of the printed stamp with ultra-fine sandpaper (1000 grit) to remove minor print lines before stamping.

Sticking prevention

Dust the soft clay with cornstarch or brush it lightly with water before pressing the 3D printed stamp to prevent sticking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I import text logos for stamps?

Yes. Convert your logo text to vector paths (SVG) in Illustrator or Canva, then upload it to the Studio using vector import.

What is the difference between Imprint and Cutter?

A cutter outlines the shape to cut through the clay. An imprint cutter outlines the shape and presses internal details/patterns at a shallower depth.

Do these stamps work on pottery clay?

Yes. Custom stamps can be used on polymer clay, air-dry clay, pottery/ceramic clay, soap, and even wax seals.

What printing filament should I use?

Standard PLA is perfect for clay stamps. It is very rigid, prints fine details reliably, and is highly durable for hand-stamping.
