Built by makers, for makers
CutClay exists because creating custom clay cutters shouldn’t require a CAD degree, a $150/year subscription, or a three-hour tutorial.
The problem we set out to solve
Polymer clay earring makers need custom cutters constantly — new shapes for weekly drops, seasonal collections, client orders. The options before CutClay were bad: fight with Fusion 360 for hours, pay $3–8 per STL file on Etsy, or settle for shapes that were close but never exactly right.
Cookie cutter generators existed, but they were built for cookie decorators. The shapes were off. The proportions were wrong. There was no post hole, no mirror pair, no understanding of how polymer clay actually works.
CutClay was built to fix that. A parametric generator designed from the ground up for clay makers — with a library of shapes that actually fit earring proportions, controls that matter for clay work, and a workflow that takes minutes, not hours.
What we believe
The principles behind every decision we make.
Makers deserve better tools
The craft community has been underserved by software for too long. Professional-grade tools shouldn’t require professional-grade technical skills.
Simple is hard
Making something complex feel effortless is the hardest design challenge. Every slider, every default, every piece of copy in CutClay has been debated and refined.
Free should mean free
The free tier isn’t a teaser. You can design and export STL files without paying anything. We earn when you get enough value to want more.
Where we are now
CutClay launched in April 2026 with A growing shape library, full parametric controls, earring mode with mirror pairs and post holes, and a free tier with 10 free STL exports (lifetime) from the full shape library. The app runs entirely in your browser — no downloads, no installs, no plugins.
We’re a small team. Every piece of feedback reaches someone who can act on it. If something is wrong, broken, or missing, tell us and we’ll fix it.
The roadmap includes stamp mode, stencil mode, image-to-cutter, and a cloud save system for your designs. We build in order of what makers ask for most.
